The start of the new year is always so refreshing: a clean slate, a chance to start something new, and for us, welcoming hundreds of new weddings and engagements for you to be inspired by. Months ago when we were planning our calendar, I purposely chose this gorgeous wedding from Lindsay Eileen Photography to be our first post of the new year, simply because it represents so much of our heart and the authentic stories we love to share. Elana and Zach's story started in Kindergarten (!!) and the magic doesn't end there. From getting married on her father's farm to the whimsical Tuscany-inspiration at ever turn, this Pennsylvania wedding is most certainly what dreams are made of!
From Lindsay: It isn't every day that a couple's love story begins back in kindergarten, but for Elana Keller, that was the first time she really noticed the guy who would one day become her husband. She used to hope she'd be the girl he'd pick to sit next to that day, and when she reached eighth grade, her dreams finally came true and Zach Stroup finally noticed her.
During the couple's personally written vows, they both reminisce about those early days as they shared their first kiss under those Friday Night Football lights. Years later, upon the completion of their degrees at Penn State University, Zach asked Elana to marry him on a gorgeous beach in South America.
Sweet, gorgeous Elana is the youngest daughter of Barry Stroup, a farm owner in East Berlin, Pennsylvania, and as the father of several daughters, he is no stranger to planning a wedding! He and his truly talented team set about transforming the Keller Farm into his daughter's dream wedding venue, and it didn't disappoint! So many of the details of the couple's wedding day were made with materials found right at the farm!
When it came to styling her dream day, Elana chose the whimsical dreamy Tuscany region as her inspiration. Engraved cutting boards, personally chosen bottles of wine, and handcrafted wooden farm tables were just a few of the details that made up her dream space. Billowing WWII parachutes and winding chandeliers of greenery and flickering candles hung from the ceiling, transforming the space into something absolutely magical. Bright flowers and various pieces of pottery and glass added whimsy and pops of color to the long rows of reception tables.
Elana chose fun floral robes as part of her bridal party's getting ready attire, and they really showed up well in pictures. The Keller family welcomed us (their husband/wife photography and videography team) right into their home, and by the end of the night we truly felt like family! Their gorgeous home made the perfect space for all of Elana's getting-ready portraits, and the gorgeous display of china and cabinetry made a great spot for capturing shots of her dress, shoes, and rings.
When it came to their beautiful outdoor ceremony, we absolutely loved the wood doors keeping Zach from seeing his bride until the moment they opened. They stood at a wedding arbor hand-made from wood, tree stumps, candles, and hanging floral pieces. It was the perfect spot to listen to the heartfelt vows they had written, and capture their first few moments as husband and wife!
One of our favorite decorative pieces at the reception was the gorgeous outdoor chandelier that glowed and glittered in the night sky as the happy couple and their guests danced underneath. Barry even went so far as to surprise Elana and Zach with a firework display that was an absolutely phenomenal way to greet the rise of nightfall and continue the celebration on through the evening hours.
Nathan and I absolutely loved every minute of this sweet couple's day, and their wedding is a tribute to the magic of having a husband/wife team taking care of both your photography and videography. Each and every one of our couples is so special to us, and it is truly an honor to be chosen to capture their magical wedding days!
