Architectural Wedding at the Barn by Fallingwater • Allisha Linnea Photo

Destination weddings normally make us think of warm, tropical locations with sandy beaches and bright blue ocean water. But the tri-state is home to destination weddings, too, with couples traveling near and far to have their dream wedding in our backyards. Today's wedding at the Barn by Fallingwater in Mill Road, Pennsylvania - a venue so pretty, especially in the fall - it's not hard to see why couples would plan their destination wedding here. Samantha + Joseph's fall wedding was simply gorgeous, and with Allisha Linnea behind the camera, every detail and stolen moment was captured beautifully.

From Alisha: Samantha & Joseph traveled 4 hours from home to have a destination wedding at the Barn by Fallingwater. We were able to take portraits of just the two of them by the unique house designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1935 over a waterfall! The amazing architect design made for amazing photos.

Elegant Linden Hall Wedding • Lauren Renee Designs

After love story this good, it's no surprise that Mark + Jillian's wedding was the epitome of romance and elegance.  Linden Hall was the perfect setting for their spring wedding, and with Lauren Renee behind the camera, every last detail was captured perfectly. A black and white color palette, a stunning lace dress and feather accents... the recipe for a a stunning Pennsylvania wedding.

From Lauren: This beautiful and elegant Linden Hall Wedding was truly a wonderful event! I was so excited to photograph Mark and Jillian's wedding, especially after their epic engagement session photos! These two have traveled the world together and their love story could not have been more perfect. Jillian and Mark met 5 years ago in Pittsburgh after Jillian had recently moved back from Texas, and Mark was on location for Cirque du Soleil - Totem. A friend of Jillian's who was dating Mark's co-worker from Cirque, invited everyone out for drinks at a local dive bar. Mark, being the sweet natured Englishman, Charmed his was into Jillian's heart, and since that night, they have been inseparable.

The beginning of their relationship was challenging. Mark was on tour, traveling to different countries and cities every 6 weeks. Jillian flew to see Mark every chance she got. They both loved it. The fleeting moments, the romance, dating in a different city every time they saw each other. But they both wanted more. Mark asked Jillian to quit her job to go travel with him full time...seriously this story does not get any more romantic! Jillian took the leap and joined Mark on the road, making a decision that changed both of their lives for the better. Jillian and Mark have had so many adventures, and now that they are married, they can forever discover the rest of the world together.

Colorful Brooklyn Engagement Session • Forever Photography

We're continuing the Brooklyn love today with this stunning engagement session from Forever Photography.  Avneet + Sandeep chose to do two outfits: first, a traditional Indian outfit for their conservative parents, and a second, more modern outfit as the sun began to set. This engagement session is full of everything that makes us giddy... an industrial backdrop, bright colors, and a couple completely in love.

From Forever Photography: We loved Avneet & Sandeep's colorful outfits! They contrasted perfectly to the urban landscape in Brooklyn. Their outfits went together without matching. Avneet chose her first outfit for her traditional parents and went with something a little more modern for the sunset. These two were some of the nicest people we've ever met. We enjoyed hearing about their 7-day traditional wedding they had planned in India

Classic New York Wedding at The River Cafe • Amy Rizzuto Photography

We know you'll think that this wedding is incredible, but when you hear the story of Beth + Pete's wedding day (and how they kept their wedding location a SECRET!!), you'll love it even more. This stunning New York City wedding from Amy Rizzuto was held at The River Cafe with views of the Brooklyn Bridge and the Manhattan skyline, and everything from Beth's shoes to their yellow cab were iconic New York.

From Amy: Beth and Pete truly had a FABULOUS NYC wedding! They were married on June 29th, seven years to the day from when they began dating. This fun-loving couple, along with 35 of their closest family and friends, traveled from New Zealand and the UK for a day full of surprises. Beth and Pete decided to keep the venue and all the details of the day a secret from their guests! Excitement built as a school bus pulled up to the Ritz Carlton in Battery Park to escort guests to the venue. They took in views of South Street Seaport and the Statue of Liberty as they crossed over the Brooklyn Bridge. Cheers could be heard as they pulled up to the iconic River Cafe! The sun danced across the Manhattan skyline creating a breathtaking view for Beth and Pete’s ceremony. After a champagne toast at cocktail hour, a gospel choir showed up and gave an incredible performance! A vintage taxi drove Beth and Pete down cobblestone streets to our portrait locations where we captured some of the most beautiful sunset portraits EVER! Sweet toasts were given, fairy lights twinkled in the surrounding gardens, and a miniature chocolate Brooklyn Bridge made the perfect sweet treat at the end of the evening.

Blogger Bride Kristen Maid of Henry • Planning an Engagement Party

Our favorite bride-to-be is back sharing some wonderful advice for all of you getting ready to start planning your wedding day! Kristen and Kevin planned their party on the exact same weekend as their wedding, so that it felt like an actual trial run of their wedding day (so smart!). I won't ruin the surprise, but the intimate details and personal touches that Kristen added throughout their engagement party was pretty incredible, and the party itself was simply gorgeous. And thanks to the talented Nicole DeTone behind the camera, we have all the pretty to share with you today!

For the modern couple planning their wedding in NY, NJ + PA. Real weddings, engagements, inspiration + more!

What comes before Part B? PartAY! I learned that motto from Lauren Conrad in the Laguna Beach days, but I learned like forever-ago that an engagement party is a wedding-prequel. Since this is the most special, magical time of your life, I encourage all newly-engaged couples to have an engagement party! It is so nice to kick off the wedding festivities with your favorite people who are over-the-moon happy to celebrate you and your fiancé. It is also the perfect opportunity for a bride-to-be to give wedding planning a practice-run!

Our backyard engagement party fell on the exact same weekend that our wedding will be next year. Coincidence? Absolutely not. As a teacher with a summer wedding, I wanted to test out how to manage my time between the end of the school year and the big day. I also wanted to see for myself what the weather would be like throughout the day! It’s a good idea when planning your engagement party to have a subtle theme which coordinates with your wedding. We have been sticking to a clean, crisp, all-white theme with a “splash” of rustic. Our wedding venue is on a lake so we brought in canoes and oars for some lake-side love! I even found a mini-canoe that I couldn’t pass up for the kiddie drinks. It’s a really smart idea to book your wedding trials for this day to see how your hair and make-up will look in photos. Which brings me to another point: book your wedding photographer for your party and have him/her come a half hour early for detail and couple shots! My photographer was amazing and created a modified wedding photography questionnaire for me to complete ahead of time. I also sent her a checklist of all the details I wanted captured before everyone arrived!

Knowing that many of our friends and family members would be meeting at our party, Kevin and I decided to have everyone wear name tags. I wish I could take credit for this amazing idea, but it goes to my family friend Mrs. Stip who did this at my bestie Sarah’s bridal shower! Kevin and I still agree that it was the best thing we could’ve done that day. On the name tags, each person also wrote their relation to the bride and groom. Of course as the drinks flowed, so did our guests’ creativity! By the end of the night, we had therapists, priests, ex-lovers, and the most hilarious memories floating around. It was the best ice-breaker for our super-happy group of framily who was eager to meet to begin with! Little wedding details have always held a special place in my heart so custom drink tags, monogrammed napkins, decorative straws, and specialty signs were a necessity!

For the modern couple planning their wedding in NY, NJ + PA. Real weddings, engagements, inspiration + more!

My best planning tip: incorporate details that are YOU. You can start by making a list of things that sum you up as both individuals and a couple. Yes, Pinterest inspires me, but I like everything to be relative to Kevin and I. What do you and your fiancé do for a living? Where was your proposal? Where did you meet? What are your favorite things to do? Those make for perfect details to tie into your party! As a teacher, I knew I wanted to set up a “Kiddie Corner” to keep the kids happy and “engaged” (teacher humor!). Getting engaged in Cape Cod was of course our most special day so I created a “Where it all Began” station which had photos of our proposal, a map of Cape Cod, and Cape Cod chips! Kevin and I love our beer so we thought it was only appropriate to have “his” and “her” kegs. If it were up to me, a signature drink and a witty hashtag would be mandatory for all occasions! Kevin and I had so much fun finding our specialty drink. We gave it a creative name tied in with the “love” theme. Our “KC’s ‘Main Squeeze’ Strawberry Lemonade” was delicious and so refreshing for a day outside in July! We displayed our hashtag for our guests on a wooden ore and created a Snapchat filter (where your guests are, you need to be!). We also brought in our favorite Disney song and used it for our keg canoe sign: “Can’oe feel the love tonight?”. You have to let your personality shine through in all of your wedding festivities!

As picture-perfect as our engagement party was, it was a beautiful day because of the people who were there with us. Kevin and I love our families and friends more than anything and being able to watch them meet, laugh, and make memories was more than we could’ve ever wished for! Since we first got engaged, our parents have truly been wedding-planning angels and have been amazingly positive and supportive in our planning. We can’t thank them enough! Love most certainly was “all around” at our engagement party and for that Kevin and I feel very blessed!

Intimate Backyard Wedding • Bridget Rochelle Photography

There's no better way to kick off the week than this gorgeous backyard wedding from Bridget Rochelle Photography. Aaron + Janelle dated as teenagers, and after reuniting a decade later, began to dream up the ultimate backyard wedding in Central New York. The result? An intimate, organic, handmade wedding day full of love and so SO much pretty.

From Bridget: This is the ultimate backyard wedding! These two have an awesome love story. They dated for years when they were in their teen years and ended up breaking up for 10 years. After multiple other relationships...they finally ended up together again and then they finally tied the knot. One of my favorite moments was in the ceremony when Aaron said to Janelle that she had always been the love of his life. It was such a heartfelt moment and everyone was SO excited that they finally ended up together. I loved this wedding. It took place in the back of their friends house. They handmade everything and set a tent up on the property. For photos we just ventured around the CNY countryside finding forests, fields, and waterfalls to photograph them near!

I'm Pregnant - YAY! And I'm a Bridesmaid - EEK! • Bella Bridesmaids

We've all been there. Planning a wedding, or in a wedding, that adorable baby-bump can sometimes throw a wrench into your bridesmaid dress plans. Speaking from personal experience, I'll admit I panicked when my best friend told me she'd be 6 months pregnant at my wedding. Of course, I was thrilled for her, but in the back of my head realized my next phone call had to be to the bridal salon to see what we could do about her dress. (Spoiler alert - it was fine, we had an incredible seamstress and my bestie could not have looked more gorgeous), but I certainly wish I had read this article back then! Bella Bridesmaids is sharing their best tips for the pregnant, or soon-to-be pregnant Bridesmaid!

Tips from Bella Bridesmaids Madison for the Pregnant or Soon-To-Be Pregnant Bridesmaid

Whether you already have a bun in the oven or you are working on cooking one up, the stress of choosing a dress AND size for your bestie's big day can be stressful. The fact that bridesmaids dresses take three to four months to produce also can leave you feeling like you need to magically predict the future on what your body may look like.

First, DON'T WORRY! You should be celebrating that bundle of joy or having fun trying! Here are some tips for the pregnant, soon-to-be pregnant, or post pregnant bridesmaid.

You don't have to tell the bride right away, but if you are comfortable telling her then that transparency will be helpful when she is selecting the dresses and throughout the process. If you do not want to tell the bride, let your bridesmaids stylist know. If you are nervous to talk about it during the appointment, give us a call before the appointment and we will be able to discretely suggest certain designers or styles that may offer better silhouettes for your changing body. Most designers offer specifically maternity styles with higher waists and more pleating in the skirt which you can order in the same fabric and color as the rest of the bridal party. Also, we have a fake baby bump for you to test with any style!

Unfortunately for both you and your stylist, there will be a lot of guessing so you need to expect alterations. Here are some tips for choosing your size, but keep in mind that sizing will depend on the style chosen. You will need to order a few sizes larger if you are wearing a more fitted dress. ALWAYS speak to your stylist about sizing even if the bride has chosen a flowy style as each designer's sizing varies.

"I'm not pregnant but could be 1-5 months"

We typically recommend ordering 1 or 2 sizes up from your current measurements. You don't necessarily need a typical maternity style. Avoid anything with a thick waistband as well as anything with a very fitted skirt (no mermaid dresses!). There are plenty of styles that are fitted on the top, have a natural waist and a flowy skirt which can accommodate an earlier pregnancy.

"I'm not pregnant but could be 6-8 months"

You should consider a dress with a higher waistline and order 1-2 sizes up from your current measurements.

"I will be 1-5 months pregnant"

You should consider a dress with a higher waistline and order 1-2 sizes up from your current measurements.

"I will be 6-8 months pregnant"

You should wear a dress specifically meant for maternity. These dresses typically have a larger cup as well as more pleating in the skirt and because of those adjustments, you only need to order 1-2 sizes up from your current measurements. If you are wearing a non-maternity dress you will need to order 3-4 sizes up from your current measurements.

"I am due the week of the wedding"

Same as above, but you may want to reconsider walking down the aisle (your feet are going to hurt!)

"I will be 1-3 months post pregnancy"

Get measured around month three of your pregnancy and order 1 size up from those measurements or order 2-3 sizes up from the size you usually wear in dresses. You can always take a dress in!

"I will be 4 or more months post pregnancy"

Order 2-3 sizes up from the size you usually wear in dresses (you don't need the added stress of losing baby weight right now!)

Once again, DON'T PANIC! This formula is not foolproof and there is no way to truly predict what your body will be. The first thing you need to do is see a tailor. They will be able to truly evaluate the situation and what needs to happen. In most cases, the tailor can either let the dress out with seam allowance built into the dress OR they will need extra fabric to add a panel to the dress. If your dress is chiffon, many times they only need to add a panel to the underlining as the chiffon layer typically has more give. Fabric usually takes 2 weeks to come in and we can order the same fabric and color of your dress. Always keep in mind that is is safer to order a larger size and have it taken in to avoid more costs in extra fabric and alterations.

Brooklyn Bridge Fall Engagement Session • John Branch IV

Today we're at a loss for words... Jenna + Andrew's engagement session from John Branch IV is just simply stunning. From the Brooklyn Bridge to a local park, every image is more beautiful than the next. Gorgeous fall colors, warm embraces and sweet kisses... this engagement session is absolutely one of our favorites.

From John: I had the pleasure of taking engagement photos for Jenna and Andrew during a beautiful fall day. We started out on the Brooklyn Bridge in the morning where Jenna and Andrew told me that they had been dating for 3 years however, had never kissed. I had the honor of being able to photograph their first kiss on the Brooklyn bridge and it was the most amazing experience.

Sweet & Romantic Monterre Vineyards Wedding • Jess Watson Photography

Considering it will be almost 80 degrees here today, it seems only appropriate to share this spring vineyard wedding from our Preferred Vendor, Jess Watson Photography! Crystal and Ronnie are both actively enlisted in the Army, and it was important to both of them that their day was both a true reflection of their relationship, and a really really incredible celebration. From the intimate ceremony to the rustic vineyard decor, Crystal and Ronnie's day was absolute perfection.

From Jessica: Crystal and Ronnie's wedding was a sweet and romantic vineyard wedding full of little hand made details that came together so perfectly. I met with these two about a year before their wedding. As soon as they told me their love story, complete with both of them being actively enlisted in the Army, I knew I had to be a part of their wedding day. They were both so involved with wanting to make sure their day was absolutely perfect, reflective of them, and most importantly, they wanted to make sure that it was a celebration. While at first they were both a little scared about planning such a big event, not knowing how to make their vision come true, Crystal really worked hard to make sure all the little details worked together perfectly. I loved working with both of them. Both our engagement session and wedding day were full of nothing but sweet moments, laughter and happy tears. It couldn't have been a more perfect day!

From the bride: On my wedding day, I was incredibly excited. I was nervous the weeks before but when the day finally came I just couldn't wait to see Ronnie. I was thrilled that everything turned out perfect, and it didn't rain! We ended up choosing the vineyard because it was already "decorated" in the theme that we were looking for. We wanted rustic-ish, but not quite as rustic as a barn. the overall layout of the venue and how they operate is what really got us. it didn't take long to choose colors. We knew we would use a shade of blue, it was just deciding what shade that took a bit. We wanted something light and "spring-ey", but still soft and romantic. The tiffany blue (or "spa" as David's bridal called it for the girls dresses) was perfect. The details came pretty easy once we had our general idea mapped out. we went with the vineyard theme and just wanted to add a few of our own touches to really make it "ours". The most important part of the day was our first look. Ronnie is my rock and having that time to be alone together before the madness was perfect. We got to actually talk to each other and laugh and cry and prepare ourselves for the next few hours. I couldn't imagine not having that special time with him.

Mad Men Wedding Inspiration at The Nassau Inn • Kyo Morishima Photography

We fell in love with this shoot the moment we saw the very first photo, and know you will, too. Kyo Morishima and Kristen Rockhill dreamed up the most perfect Man Men-Inspired Styled Shoot that is dripping with inspiration and creative ideas. Everything from the bridal gowns (two of them, and they're both stunning), to the perfectly executed floral arrangements is totally on point, and more beautiful than the next. Pin away... this one is a keeper!

The Nassau Inn is a historic hotel (founded in 1756!) with lots of character right in the center of downtown Princeton. When they approached us about partnering with stylist Kristin Rockhill to do a photoshoot showing off some of their wedding spaces, we were immediately on board. We met with Kristin and Jamie Volkert from the Nassau Inn to brainstorm ideas, and I mentioned that I'd always thought it would be fun to do a "MadMen" style shoot at the Nassau Inn, since it has such a charmingly retro vibe. Much to my delight, Kristin and Jamie loved the idea, and ran with it!As Jamie explained, "Our ultimate goal when planning this photo shoot was to bring to life all of the qualities the Inn has to offer and to show prospective couples that they really can have it all. The tree-adorned back patio adds just enough nature to your day while allowing you to still have the convenience of our elegant ballroom. The MadMen photo shoot brought to life the nostalgia of the property and showcased multiple venue spaces that the Nassau Inn has to offer." Kristin pulled together a wonderful team for the photo shoot. April Nicole Designs created an unusual wooden backdrop wall for the ceremony setting on the Nassau Inn's back patio, and West Elm donated decor and furniture for the outdoor lounge area. The bride's dresses -- which were just stunning -- were from BHLDN. And I adore the bride's perfect Sixties-style bouffant updo by Letitia Kakas. One of the best parts about this photo shoot was the chemistry between the male and female models. They are a couple in real life.... not engaged yet, but we were all nudging them to make it official soon. They sure seem like they are ready for it. ;)
