We're over the moon to be sharing this epic green + gold winter wedding styled shoot from the hosts of the IGNITE Workshop, full of snowy landscapes, a donut bar and a duck. Yes, a duck! The six local photographers behind the IGNITE workshop dreamed up a way to combine an educational seminar and hands-on shooting, and the result... well, the photos speak for themselves. The inspiration here is endless, and proof that even in the midst of winter, there is endless beauty outdoors.Read More

Autumn weddings always seem to be so romantic, and Tricia and Alex's Princeton wedding is certainly no exception. Thoughtful and personal details made this day all about them; from a hand-drawn map of their favorite places, to her grandmother's mink stole, no detail was left out. Stunning flowers from Kerry Patel Designs, one of our preferred vendors, were the perfect compliment to this already beautiful November day.Read More
It's here! The second part of our incredible Fall Styled Shoot. We could go on and on and tell you how amazing this group of vendors are, or what an experience it was to be a part of something like this... but honestly, the photos below tell that story better than we could. We're so thankful for this opportunity to work with some of the most talented creative entrepreneurs in our area, and look forward to doing it again!

It feels a little bit like Christmas morning today, because we're finally sharing a shoot that is a very big piece of our heart. The dream was to create a shoot that both celebrated the wonderful Red Oak advertisers and friends that have cheered us on this last year, and also represented the diverse and incredibly talented vendors in our area. We could not be more thrilled with what this day turned out to be, and the camaraderie that blossomed between friends.
We're separating the shoot into two posts - one today and one tomorrow - so that we can do all of these beautiful photos justice. Our hope is that you're inspired by the possibilities of what this group of talented vendors can create - we certainly are!

We love styled shoots for so many reasons, and at the very top of that list is the endless inspiration that happens when a group of talented and creative wedding vendors dream big. This Rustic Romantic styled shoot from TWO of our Vendor Guide Members, Cinnamon Wolfe and DeborahAnn Photography, is overflowing with beauty, style and incredible vision.
From Cinnamon: Having two photographers plan and prepare a styled wedding shoot is no easy task! But thanks to an amazing team of vendors, Debbie and I were able to pull it off and everything came together so beautifully!
We wanted to highlight a very romantic and rustic barn wedding in the Spring at the amazingly beautiful Sterlingbrook Farm and Events. This venue is to die for! A gorgeous, rustic barn settled in between fields of soft green grass with rustic fences and grand trees. Sterlingbrook is also an equine center so there are plenty of majestic horses to greet you as you come in and look on as you do your first look or bridal portraits!
We loved that our models were a real life couple and wanted to incorporate their two children as a flower girl and ring bearer. They stole the show! How cute are those suspenders?
We were pleasantly surprised the day of our shoot to have some hot air balloons make an appearance! From the custom calligraphy, perfect naked cake, to the out of this world organic and loose florals...everything about this came together just as envisioned!

Perhaps we can lure the spring weather back by sharing one of our favorite floral designers? I'm so excited to introduce you to Kerry Patel of Kerry Patel Designs, a member of of the Red Oak Wedding Preferred Vendor Guide! Kerry is smart, humble, and as sweet as they come. She was a huge part of our Red Oak Brand Shoot, contributing designs to match the brand while only working from an inspiration board. Her knowledge of flowers runs deep, and she'll easily bring your vision to life for your wedding day. Get to know a little bit about her, below!
Hi! I’m Kerry, a flower-loving wife of a patient and always-there-for-me husband, a mom to an awesome little boy, and a crazy Cockapoo named The Coop. Before flowers, there was title insurance, a long commute into New York City, endless hours of work, and a dying passion for my job. Flowers have always made me happy, but I didn’t begin designing seriously until I became a member of my local Garden Club - entering flower shows, taking design workshops - and I soon found pleasure and my true passion, incorporating the beauty of flowers into everyday life.
What do you specialize in? I love designing lush, organic florals for the bride and her bridal party, incorporating the elements of nature in my designs. I also do custom arrangements to grace your tables and buffet, and can add a bit of painterly drama to your dinner party.
What makes your business unique? Floral design doesn’t fit in a box - and it shouldn’t. It’s an interpretation of nature, inspiration gained through my surroundings, and a feeling I get when working with the perfect bloom. It’s a flowering branch at just that perfect arc, or the unusual plant material like berries, pods, and leaves. This is what makes KP Designs unique. No two designs are ever the same.
Favorite part of working with couples? I’d have to say their vision. It’s different in every instance, every wedding, and that never gets dull!
One piece of advice for couples: Everyone will tell you not to stress out on the details, including me, because at the end of the day, YOU may very well be the only one that notices. I’d tell you it’s okay to let your wedding vendor professionals be inspired by your ideas and vision for your day - and let them run with it. By letting them work their magic might actually result in something better than what you had dreamt about.
Childhood Career Aspiration? This is a tough one. Not one thing stands out for me from my early years. These are the cards I’ve been dealt, and it’s up to me to make the best of it, and that means staying humble, yet confident; being content, yet never stop from growing; learn from my mistakes, and lead with conviction and a dash of humility.
Coffee or Tea? Oh goodness me, I do so love a good cup of tea!
Hidden Talent? This would have to be interior design. Not only will I design your wedding bouquet, but I’ll also design your new kitchen or bath! Don’t tell anyone, but I have a secret love for tile and stone!
Today's the day! Red Oak Weddings is officially live, and we couldn't be more thrilled! But before we dive into everything that lays ahead for this brand-new business, we should probably tell you how we came to be.
I'm Jillian, editor + founder of this new space. I'm also the owner of Bella Carta Boutique, a stationery studio right here in northern New Jersey. As a small business owner, I struggled to find a way to connect with local couples. There were so many opportunities to advertise on a national level, but I really wanted to work with couples from the tri-state area. Surely a site had to exist that focused on local weddings... a site that had the look and feel of the big blogs I read every day, but was focused solely on local weddings and vendors. Turns out there were a few, but none felt like the right place for me. I craved an online space that focused on well-designed, authentic and creative weddings. A blog that was as beautiful as the weddings it showcased. A space I was proud to advertise on. When I couldn't find what I wanted, I had this crazy idea to start my own. Here we are, six months later, and I'm ready to share this space with all of you.
Red Oak Weddings is a wedding and lifestyle blog devoted to assisting and inspiring couples planning their wedding in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. We're looking to redefine the typical wedding, raise the bar on creativity and become the destination for brides and grooms planning their wedding in the tri-state area.
Red Oak Weddings will serve authentic, purposeful businesses who want to attract a specific bridal client. Namely, couples who place a high value on design, working closely with local vendors, and creating a one-of-a-kind wedding. Our community will be a place for like-minded creatives to collaborate, inspire, and connect with local couples planning their wedding.
We're so happy you're here! Take a look around, follow along on social media, and be sure to check back every day this week for lots of pretty.
