Red Oak Weddings • Best Engagements of 2016

Big time wedding blogger confession: sommeeeetimes, I love the engagements more than weddings. I know I know, I can't say that, because you know, I'm a wedding blogger. But I just LOVE them. Just look at these! These couples are completely head-over-heels for each other, beaming from a recent proposal... no stress of the wedding day, there's not 400 of their closest friends and family watching. Just them, a photographer and some really incredible bling. And we have plenty more of these lined up for 2017. Enjoy!

Flowers are at the very top of my wedding-day favorites, and can honestly make or break your wedding day. Narrowing down our list of favorites was so difficult, but all of these are a wonderful example of the talent and artistry present in the tri-state area!

Valley Forge National Park Engagement Session • Elizabeth Mae Photography

What a way to end our last engagement feature of the year! This gorgeous fall session in Valley Forge, PA from Elizabeth Mae Photography is full of personality, love and laughter, and we're so excited to share it with you. Micha and Kayla are clearly smitten with each other, and we adore their choice of outfits. With photos this gorgeous, we absolutely cannot wait to see their wedding!

From Elizabeth: In the midst of all of these overcast days, I had the privilege of capturing Micah and Kayla's warm joy, laughter, and abundant love for one another! We walked around Valley Forge National Park and found some of the sweetest scenes (hello log cabins and open grassy green fields!) to serve as a backdrop for these two. It's so clear how much they love one another; they definitely made my job easy! Listening to the story of how Micah proposed was so wonderful. It was just the best getting to know these two as a couple.

Congratulations Micah and Kayla! Thank you for allowing me to capture your love.

Warm and Cozy Hudson Valley Christmas Engagement Session • Nicole DeTone

Just when I thought fall engagements were my favorite, Nicole DeTone shared this adorable Christmas Engagement session with us, and we're completely smitten. Laura and Joe wanted to combine their Christmas Card with a Save-the-Date, and the result was the warmest, coziest engagement session we've ever seen. Scarves, blankets, sweaters and hot cocoa? Engagement session perfection.

From Nicole: Knowing that they wanted to send a combination Save-the-Date + Christmas card to their family and friends, Laura and Joe brought along some seasonal outfits and props to their engagement session. Laura and Joe were completely themselves... happy, cute, and in-love with each other and this special time they had together :) A very Merry Christmas indeed for these two who have so much to be grateful for and so much to look forward to!

Winter Wedding at Lake Valhalla Club • Brielle Kaschak Photography

Sometimes I think if I had to do it all again, I'd have a winter wedding. There's something so intimate and romantic about them, and I absolutely love the way winter flowers pop against white. This January wedding at the Lake Valhalla Club from our Preferred Vendors, Brielle Kaschak is as beautiful as it gets. Warm whites, winter greenery and the prettiest shade of blue make this New Jersey Wedding a favorite. Al and Therese will be celebrating their one-year anniversary the day after New Year's, and we know they'll be looking back at this incredible photos when the day comes.

From Brielle: I couldn't think of a better start to kick off to a new year than to be celebrating the love between two people at their Lake Valhalla Club Wedding in Montville, NJ! We had such a blast at their engagement session in the fall at the location of their first date, I just knew this day was going to be special! After dating for 9 years these high school sweethearts were finally tying the knot, and I could not get enough of hearing their friends and family reminiscing about stories of them together. The warm weather we've had in New Jersey into the new year gave us a great day for a winter themed wedding with all the perks of not freezing until the sun went down. There was no shortage of tears, starting early in the morning when Al sent a special surprise letter to Therese while the girls got ready in the hotel room. The sweet emotions continued to radiate from the couple and their guests through the beautiful church ceremony, and ?all the way to the first dance where there was not a dry eye in the room as snow fell from above the dance floor!?
