You know it's going to be an incredible year when we start it with a wedding like this! Jocelyn + Jonathan's fall wedding at one of New York's most picturesque venues, Red Maple Vineyard, is the perfect blend of rustic elegance. The natural backdrop of the vineyard and a muted color palette, paired with more formal dresses and modern decor choices made this wedding one to remember. We are in love with Jocelyn's dress and the mismatched bridesmaid dresses, but the sheer joy on their faces as they leave the ceremony is hands-down the best part of the day. A big thank you to Sara Wight Photography for sharing this stunning day with us!
From the bride: From the moment Jon and I became engaged (and probably much longer than that), we knew that we wanted to be married outdoors, surrounded by nature and beautiful scenery. We were incredibly lucky to find Red Maple Vineyard, just 2 hours north of our home in Manhattan. The venue – a farm and vineyard that specifically functions as a wedding space, couldn’t have been a more perfect choice.
Using the beauty of the Hudson Valley as inspiration, we opted for clean colors and muted palates – white, blush, cream, dusty rose, gold accents and of course tons of greenery. This color scheme carried through most elements of the wedding – from centerpieces and bouquets, to invitations, paper goods and more. The one area where the color scheme strayed was in determining bridesmaid’s dresses. Ultimately, I opted for long black dresses, individually chosen by my bridesmaids. The dark color, coupled with mismatched styles, helped to bridge the gap between the casual, laid back vibe of a farm/vineyard wedding and my desire to host an elegant, formal affair.
As for our vendors, 5 stars are not nearly enough to express how wonderful each and every person / company was. Our photographer Sara Wight was not only a true artist, as evidenced by her amazing photos, but also a wonderfully kind person whose calm demeanor was perfect for someone like me (type A and panicked about every detail of the wedding). Our amazing florist, Jeanette Kleitz of True Florette created gorgeous cascading centerpieces, unstructured bouquets and THE MOST BEAUTIFUL CHUPPAH EVER. She was instrumental in helping to bring my vision to life and was a delight to work with throughout the planning process.
Additionally, I couldn’t have been happier with my hair (Sally from Styles on B) and makeup (Chante Cutter) – both of whom were incredible to work with and made me feel extremely beautiful. Our band, Faze 4 Orchestras (Aurora Nights) kept all of the guests on the dance floor the entire evening – resulting in a big sweaty mosh pit of family and friends (exactly what we wanted). All of the elements came together and made the entire day one that we’ll always remember.
In the end, a wedding isn’t perfect because of a seamless planning process (it wasn’t), how pretty you remember it to be, or a smooth, hiccup-free day. It’s perfect because you get to share in such a momentous occasion with the family and friends who mean the most to you, and you get to legally commit to forever hanging out with the person you love most in this world.
