We have alll the heart-eyes for this gorgeous September wedding from Asya Photography, and know you’ll love it as much as we do! Marta + Joshua’s wedding at Aldie Mansion is quite literally what dreams are made of: timeless + classic, with a dash of rustic elegance and a whole lot of joy. From the sophisticated color palette and wild, natural florals, to the stunning off-the-shoulder gown and of course, the exquisite grounds of Aldie Mansion, every detail is more gorgeous than the next. And just when you think that this wedding can’t get any better, you learn that they played vodka musical chairs with their guests… and you fall in love all over again!
From the Bride: We met at a college party (Indiana University) back in 2005 through mutual friends. Immediately we hit it off as friends, but did not consider a relationship until a year and half into our friendship. On paper, we were from different worlds: a homegrown Indiana boy and a Jersey girl from Poland. But between our playful banter, mutual love of nature, shared values and a few shared Hairy Bears*, it was only a matter of time before that close friendship evolved into love. Before we knew it, we became inseparable.
After graduation, we were determined to overcome the distance between our home states and be together. That desire was strong enough to lead Josh to make New Jersey his home. There, we began our post-college lives together and launched our careers, accompanied by our late great canine companion, Ozzy.
The years that followed were full of treasured memories, including Josh’s first trip to Poland, where he was able to show off some hard-earned Polish vocabulary and meet my extended family. We shared holidays, achievements, adventures, and a few heartaches. There was never any doubt that we would always weather the bad and celebrate the good together as a team.
The National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa (CEREMONY): The ceremony took place at Czestochowa which is a Polish-American Roman Catholic shrine; an ode to the Brides Polish heritage. The Shrine is an exceptional church that houses a reproduction of the famous Black Madonna Icon painting along with beautiful floor to ceiling stained glass, marble flooring, and a massive pipe organ that resonates throughout the church. Outside of the inherent beauty, my favorite part about the venue was its reputation and tradition of hosting the Pope, celebrated Catholic figures, and annual pilgrimages.
The ambiance we tried to achieve for our wedding was “Timeless Nature.” The setting was formal which was evident by the venues, black-tie attire, and classic table settings, but had hints of nature and natural elements such as greenery vine center pieces, venue grounds and landscape, as well as accents of green water color in the seating charts and escort cards. The color theme was black, green, blue and gold, mimicking the “Timeless Nature”
Our first dance (The Cure- Love Song acoustic version) was sung by the bands lead singer, but acoustic guitar was played by the Grooms father, Michael Davis. The moment was incredibly special as we danced through the song feeling as though we were the only ones in the room dancing on a cloud. The rendition of the song was beautiful, especially with the acoustic guitar.
The party atmosphere was present from the moment we were introduced and entered the dance floor. We played a “vodka musical chairs” game that made everyone participate and take at least one vodka shot if the music stopped and you were holding the bottle, it was a big hit for everyone participating (a friend who was getting married the following month copied the idea). Unfortunately, with the party atmosphere we ran out of Vodka before the wedding was over.. which could be viewed as a blessing or curse.
