There's no better way to kick off this week than with a stunning styled shoot from Lovehaus Events at one of Philadelphia's most historic (and beautiful!) venues! With it's burnt red walls and intricate architecture, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts proved to be the perfect backdrop for a modern vintage wedding, complete with stunning floral design, antique books and warm, bold accents. The incredible stationery from one of our favorites, House of Catherine, perfectly complimented the color palette, while introducing a whimsical element with watercolor calligraphy. We can't stop pouring over exquisite detail captured by Heart + Rae, and know you'll love this shoot as much as we do!
Located in the heart of Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts is dripping in artwork with gilded details to welcome guests. This unique space was opened in 1876 to display collections of historical art while gracefully integrating modern art into its portfolio. Philadelphia is filled with historical charm and we wanted our editorial to take inspiration from the style of the museum and its surroundings.
The bold burnt red walls and massive columns in the main atrium space created a natural visual focal point from which we based our color scheme. We set the table with a heavy white velvet tablecloth, bone plates, copper cutlery, storm glasses and amber goblets in complement with the visual cues of the grand setting. For decorative elements, the table was draped in a 16 foot eucalyptus garland popping with pink garden roses, red berries, and blue thistle to complement the room as well as the tablescape. Seating arrangements included miniature antique leather bound books topped with hand painted acrylic escort cards and metallic stud mounted menus provided detail to each place setting. The use of candles is prohibited in historic spaces, so to add pops of light and warmth to the tablescape, we strung lights throughout the garland. Antique books and trunks were placed in front of modern pieces of art along with clean acrylic signage to create contrast of new and old.
For her hair and make up photos the bride wore a beautiful, delicate robe from BHLDN and was then photographed on the staircase in the entryway of the museum. We chose a romantic wedding gown by Limor Rosen from Lovely Bride Philadelphia for its classic feel with contemporary twist, highlighted in its subtle details. The bridesmaids and groom were dressed in blue hues to complement the color palette of the space.
