Tell us a little bit about you, and how you got started!
Some people may not know this, but I'm only 20 years old. I wanted to be an artist my entire educational career, but I got into photography at the age of 12. Since my high school didn't offer any photography courses, I decided to stick with art until I reached my senior year and was able to do photography in AP Art. When I began college, I tried to break into the fashion industry and even had been given the opportunity to work alongside top brands and photograph NYFW backstage, but I transitioned into weddings when I got the chance to photograph a friend's wedding and fell in LOVE with all of the details. Now, I run my own business and get the chance to do what I love, which has been such an incredible journey. Aside from photography and business, a few key things about me is that I'm a huge cookie fanatic, love of animals, and aspiring traveller!
What services do you offer and/or what do you specialize in?
I specialize in wedding and portrait photography, as well destination and film photography.
What makes your business unique?
I built my business from the ground up with only a few dollars in my bank account, life long dreams, and a whole lot of hope. Well, and my parents support, as well. When my clients book me, they get my undivided attention and can feel the passion from this art form that I hold close to my heart.
What is your favorite part of working with couples?
Getting to know their stories. Everyone's beginning and middle is vastly different, and I love when clients let me into their personal lives to know more about them. It makes our sessions that more intimate and unique.
One piece of advice for couples?
It may seem like it's unnecessary, but if there is an engagement offered in a collection, don't turn it down! Unless you book another portrait session with your photographer, an engagement session is highly recommended to get to know them and get comfortable with them. My best and easiest wedding day portraits are precious clients and clients who've booked an engagement session. This way, you become comfortable with each other and there is no worry or awkwardness come wedding time!
Childhood career aspiration?
Artist, always. While I have a great love of mathematics and science (my dad is incredible with numbers and research), I got my mom's passion for art. It wasn't until a couple of years ago that I fully gave up the brush for my camera.
Coffee or tea?
People are going to think I'm crazy, but sparkling water. I'm sorry to all my coffee and tea lovers!
I hate bragging about things, but I'm amazing at recreating real life. I can see anything, and draw it almost perfectly. Also, calculus (my secret love).
