We say this almost every week, but Tuesdays are seriously one of our favorite days. We get this crazy sense of pride every time we feature a local artist or maker. Knowing that the people behind these creations might live down the street, or that you pass them in line picking up coffee or sit next to them at the playground, is just so neat. Brittany of B Stamped is an artist we admired long before this blog was created, and we're so excited to introduce her to you today! Get to know her, and see some of her gorgeous work, below!
Tell us a little bit about you, and how you got started! I was born and raised in New Jersey. After getting married, I decided to quit my full-time job as a nurse to become a stay-at-home mom. I was looking for a hobby for those rare moments when my son was asleep, and had been selling crocheted items for a while through Etsy. It was through Etsy that I was inspired to start making bracelets. In just two years, this "hobby" has become my full-time venture, with nearly 300 items available in my store and thousands of customers across the world.
What services do you offer and/or what do you specialize in? I specialize in customizable, hand-stamped keepsakes, including jewelry, fishing lures, flatware and more. Most requests I get are for jewelry that signifies an important journey in one's life - especially weddings, birthdays and anniversaries. The bar necklace is the most popular item in my online store and the stamped dessert forks are a popular choice for bridal shower gifts. Other options for unique wedding and bridal shower gifts are our Mr. and Mrs. wine charms, wedding date jewelry and men's gifts such as money clips, tie bars and personalized fishing lures.
What makes your business unique? My products stand out because everything is customizable. With the knowledge that each piece signifies a memory or a hallmark in one's life, I take the time to create each piece by hand. Each one is stamped, packed and shipped by me.
What is your favorite part of working with couples? I enjoy working with couples, because the thought and care a partner puts into selecting the perfect piece gives great insight into their love for one another. What can I say, I'm a romantic!
One piece of advice for couples? This year marks my sixth wedding anniversary to my husband. In that time we've had two beautiful boys. My one piece of advice is to make it a priority to spend time together no matter how busy life gets.
Childhood career aspiration? I've always wanted to be a nurse, and am proud to say I was able to fulfill my childhood dream. While that career didn't fit into my parenting lifestyle, it was style an important part of becoming the mother, friend, wife, sister and entrepreneur that I am today.
Coffee or tea? Decaf tea! I'm a breastfeeding mama.
