With two spring posts in a row, I'm officially dreaming of sunshine and blooming flowers, and there is nothing more perfect than spring in New York City! Alex and James chose to have a casual outdoor wedding at Fort Tyron Park and New Leaf Restaurant, with the focus solely on their friends and family. By not choosing a color palette and simply letting the outdoor venue and the in-season tulips shine, their wedding was classic, understated and incredibly chic. Sarah Tew beautifully captured every last detail, including taxi-themed flats and romantic first look.
From the bride: Our focus for the wedding was to make sure that it was casual, fun, and not an opportunity for us to be the center of attention for six hours. Rather, we want the event to focus on our friends and family, who we love, and our excitement of having all of our "people" together with us as we begin the next stage of our lives together. In this vein, we did not have a bridal party, a choreographed dance, formal toasts, or an official cake cutting. We want it to be a fun party that's reflective of who we are! We chose New Leaf Restaurant because it's so different than the traditional NYC wedding venues. Alex is a marathon runner and spends a great deal of time outdoors and in New York City parks, and was so excited to find a venue that was in one! The location is understated yet beautiful, which is just what we want the day to be.We're not having a specific color palette, but rather having tulips (of all colors!) be the floral focus. They'll be perfectly in season, and we love the bright colors (and Alex loves the symmetry/organization of them).
