Classic and Modern Brooklyn, NY Wedding • Tyler Boye Photography

We're all moving a little slower this Monday after celebrating Mother's Day, but go grab your second cup of coffee (we won't judge), and sit down to enjoy this stunning wedding from Tyler Boye Photography. Lauren and Josh's Brooklyn wedding is perfect in every way.... timeless but bold, intimate and fun, and most importantly, a true reflection of them. Lauren, planner behind Lauren James Events, brought together her favorite vendors to bring her dream to life, and we have to say, they knocked it out of the park. These two are clearly head-over-heels for each other, and their wedding day is sure to a favorite of ours for a very long time.

From Tyler: Lauren and Josh met on JDate in early March of 2015 although busy schedules kept them from getting together until mid April. Lauren was dog sitting her family pup, Chynna, so she suggested a low-key “date” at the dog park. Lauren waited for Josh, and his dog Teq, on a bench in her favorite park in Philadelphia. The conversation was easy and the dogs helped to break the ice. Needless to say, they hit it off and it was love at second date. Josh proposed on that bench the following April as their sisters hid and acted as paparazzi capturing the special moment. When it came time to select a venue for Lauren and Josh to host their 180 guests, they wanted to think outside the box. They are both from Philadelphia but had decided that they would bring their guests together for a celebration in another city. Lauren, a wedding planner and co-owner of Lauren James Events in Philadelphia, wanted her wedding night to feel different than her typical weekends spent at Philadelphia’s various venues. This was not an easy decision as there are so many amazing ones to choose from in Philadelphia. Her vision of having an industrial chic Fall wedding came together when she and Josh toured 26 Bridge in Brooklyn, New York. As it was a short drive for family and friends on the east coast their decision was an easy one. Selecting a date was also fairly simple. Both Lauren and Josh’s parents were married on the same November weekend 36 years ago making their date that much more special. Lauren, having 10+ years of experience in the wedding industry, immediately knew the team she would put together to bring her dream wedding to life. She chose to collaborate with Robertson’s Flowers & Events to transform the empty warehouse into a space filled with lush greens, white flowers, pops of burgundy, and marble and copper accents. One hundred Edison bulbs hung at varying heights over the dance floor that set the stage where guests would dance the night away to the amazing vocal talents of The Broadway Project. CHICK Invitations created a modern and elegant gray and copper foil invitation with geometric lines that would be used as inspiration for design throughout the reception. The day-of signage was hip and modern to match and bring together the cohesive design. Guests enjoyed a diverse menu of small passed and stationed plates by Real Food Catering, a local vendor that Lauren found on one of her many visits to New York for wedding planning, in addition to some NYC favorites for dessert; cake truffles from Momofuku, pies from Four and Twenty Blackbirds, and miniature ice cream sandwiches from Melt Bakery. Lauren and Josh couldn’t forget to represent Philadelphia and ensured that cheesesteak eggrolls and French fries were passed on the dance floor towards the end of the night. 13th Street Cocktail Catering served up delicious craft cocktails, signature drinks, and a wine list fit for a connoisseur. Tyler Boye Photography and CinemaCake Filmmakers didn’t miss a minute and captured every special moment perfectly behind the cameras. A wedding planner herself, Lauren knows the importance of having someone there to coordinate the day’s events. She enlisted the help of SD Events for Day-Of Coordination to ensure that all of her planning was executed to perfection.Lauren perused a few local bridal shops in Philadelphia but a Monique Lhuillier dress that she’d seen in their Fall 2016 collection remained in the back of her mind. After a few weeks she scheduled an appointment with the Monique Lhuillier boutique in New York City and tried on THE dress. It was obvious that this lace bodice short dress and silk white overskirt combo was modern and chic and would fit perfectly with the industrial warehouse vibes of Brooklyn. Knowing that her shoes would be a focal point she wanted to find something edgy and possibly with a burgundy hue. Hope McGrath, a former LJEvents bride and now stylist at Trunk Club in NYC, helped her choose a velvet, Bordeaux Saint Laurent pump. They were a perfect yet subtle way to tie in to the hints of burgundy throughout the wedding. Lauren and Josh also worked with Hope to create a custom suit for Josh. He wore a striking blue three-piece suit from Trunk Club with a burgundy silk jacket interior and had the wedding date embroidered inside. The groomsmen wore blue suits from Suit Supply with matching burgundy ties and white pocket squares. The Maid of Honor, bridesmaids, and groom’s lady wore a variety of short black dresses and black dresses with pops of white color blocking and patterns. The flower girls wore a Kate Spade tailored, drop-waist dress with rose-patterned jacquard texture in a shade of burgundy. The bridesmaid’s greenery bouquets were wrapped in burgundy velvet ribbon while Lauren’s bouquet was wrapped in a dove gray velvet ribbon intertwined with a diamond heart necklace from her grandparents to keep them closer to her throughout the day. Lauren & Josh got married on a glistening, rainy day in Brooklyn, NY. Lauren, already a large part of the wedding business being a coordinator herself, picked modern details that made her day look unique and feel special to everyone attending. Her custom, front-open dress is a highlight in her wedding photos, paired with Josh's blue-toned suit complimented the colors of New York City gorgeously. The wedding details are composed of cooler tones and interesting geometric lines and in a way it mimics details of the city, especially on their wedding day. It was a beautiful wedding, in a contemporary way and Lauren and Josh hit it out of the park!
