Classic Wedding at The Thayer Hotel at West Point • Laura Lee Photography

Classic weddings will always have our heart, and this gorgeous summer wedding from Laura Lee Photography is certainly no exception. Ashley + Steven's wedding at the Thayer Hotel was absolutely stunning, but the obvious connection these two share is truly the most beautiful part of it all. From Ashley's timeless dress, to the pale blush BHLDN bridesmaids dresses and the elegance of the Thayer Hotel, this wedding is one we'll be loving for a long time.

From Laura: Any wedding at the Thayer Hotel in West Point, NY is beautiful, but when you add in two people like Ashley and Steven, you can’t help but shed a few tears and have your heart beat a little faster. Ashley and Steven met on New Years in 2010. They were both at a bar with friends and happened to meet, share a dance, and share a first kiss at midnight. This moment became the turning point in their life that neither of them were expecting, but welcomed with open arms. Since their first date five days after meeting, they have become inseparable best friends and their love for each other is truly unparalleled.

On the wedding day, the weather was hot. Like really hot! 90 degrees and barely a cloud in the sky. We were doing the first look in the early afternoon and when Ashley and I went outside I greeted Steven, who was already crying in anticipation of seeing his beautiful bride. It was the most emotional first look I’ve photographed to date I couldn’t help but shed a few tears myself. Ashley looked absolutely stunning in her Sareh Nouri gown and Steven was left speechless. They exchanged hugs, tears, gifts and cards and I am so thankful we got to capture these moments.

From there, we went into the ceremony, which overlooked the Hudson River on the lawn of the Thayer. It was absolutely stunning! The shade started to creep in, which we were so thankful for. Family and wedding party portraits were next and the heat was killing us! When it was time for bride and groom's portraits, we found the most magical spot of land where the sun was glowing through the trees. I had to pick my jaw up off the ground MULTIPLE times because I was just in awe of how gorgeous and in love Ashley and Steven looked.

Here’s a few things I love that they said about each other when I asked:

Steven, what things do you love most about Ashley? There are many things about Ashley that I love but above all would be her presence. Whether I have a good day or a bad day I always know I will have someone to listen to me complain but more importantly laugh and joke around with. Most nights we fall asleep historically laughing and I honesty don’t know why. Never would I ever have imagined finding someone with a similar sense of humor and personality. Getting out of work there is nothing better than coming home seeing the smile on the face of the beautiful little blonde woman I have been inseparable from the last 4 and a half years of my life and knowing that I can grow old with her.

Ashley, What things do you love most about Steven? Steven is the most down to earth, genuine, and kind man. He is patient and understanding, and loves me wholeheartedly, flaws and all. I count down the minutes at work and rush to get home to him, because I know my other half will be there to share in the joy of a day, cheer me up after a bad day, and love me unconditionally. That is what I love most about him, he loves me unconditionally. He helps me be the best version of myself that I can be. I love that I can look at him and see ham as my boyfriend, my fiance’, my husband, a father, a lover, a friend, and a partner in crime. He is everything to me.

Rustic Outdoor Wedding at Valley Stream Farm • Divine Light Photography

Wedding blogger confession: when you're surrounded by weddings every day, it's hard not to wonder what you'd do if you had to do it all again - to the same person, of course! Tim + Lizbeth's Wedding from Divine Light Photography has us thinking this is exactly what we'd want. A wedding on your family farm, full of sweet, intimate details and personal touches is pretty much a perfect way to start your happily-ever-after.

From Divine Light: Lizbeth & Tim’s wedding day was an amazing example of how great making your wedding day personal can be. The wedding was held at Lizbeth’s family farm, in the middle of acres of corn planted specially for her. The backdrop was the rolling hills of the Hudson Valley: A perfect setting if there ever was one. Being in the middle of surroundings you love and with people you love are the two key ingredients to a wedding that feels like this. It was a truly special day and one we are so honored to have shared with them.

Romantic Summer Wedding at The View • Alison Dunn Photography

Stephen + Alyssa's Wedding from Alison Dunn Photography is a perfect example of truly sweet, garden-inspired hometown affair. Touches of lace, letterpress invitations, stunning florals (from an urban flower farm!) and nods to their love of Philadelphia made their day perfect and personal. The sweetest part though, has to be that Alyssa's grandfather sang their first dance song... it doesn't any get cuter than that.

From Alison: Stephen & Alyssa met at the University of Pennsylvania, where they fell in love with the city of brotherly love! They wanted to reflect their affection for Philly to their out-of-town wedding guests, and I think they did such a lovely job of it! Their letterpressed invitations included a map of the city, highlighting significant locations to their relationship, while their cake topper borrowed from Philly's iconic LOVE statue. They were married in a beautiful Center City church, took portraits in Rittenhouse Square and in iconic Old City, and celebrated with friends and family at The View, which allowed guests a beautiful view of Philly's skyline at sunset. Stephen and Alyssa also opted to use Chicory Florals, a Philly-local urban flower farm that grows its flowers in once-abandoned Philly lots. Using their flowers, Alyssa designed and handcrafted her own centerpieces!

Stunning Summer Wedding at Bonnet Island Estate • Saltwater Studios

We just adore everything about this summer wedding from Saltwater Studios at Bonnet Island Estate. What we love most about this venue, is it's perfect blend of sophistication and charm, and Bryan and Caroline's wedding was the perfect compliment. From the stationery to the dress, right down to the breathtaking floral arrangements, everything is the epitome of understated elegance. Definitely one of our favorites to-date, and we know you'll love it, too!

From the couple:

How did you meet?
Bryan and I met Senior year at Penn State at The Lions Den, a local downtown bar.

How did you get engaged?
We were on a trip to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic as a pre-graduation trip for Bryan's upcoming graduation from graduate school. We were walking on the beach prior to dinner and he got down on one knee - he had a private dinner set up for us on the beach following :) We had the rest of our trip to bask in our newly-engaged joy.

What was your favorite part of the wedding day?
It is so hard to pick! I think my favorite part was one moment when we were on the dance floor and I looked around and realized how much love and joy I was surrounded by. It was my goal to make sure the wedding really was just a fun celebration of love, and in this moment I knew it was a success.

One piece of advice for couples planning their wedding.
Ensure you have someone you are comfortable with and trust who will be coordinating all day of logistics. Our venue and vendors were incredible when it came to really running the show - this allowed not only me, but my bridesmaids and my mom to really simply enjoy the big day.

Summer Wedding at Highlands Country Club • Cassi Claire Photography

Literally ALL the heart eyes for this summer wedding from Cassi Claire Photography! Words cannot do justice in conveying how stunning these images are... every detail from the dress to the flower, and even the bride and groom themselves... We know you'll fall in love with this wedding just as quickly as we did.

From the Bride: Even before Matt and I got engaged, we always wondered where we would have our wedding given that our families are 3 hours apart. We came up with the idea of getting married somewhere between our two families to make it convenient and also have the opportunity to explore a new area. Once we got engaged, we stuck to that idea and looked at a bunch of venues between Long Island and Albany, NY. When we came across Highlands Country Club in Garrison, we knew immediately that it was the clear winner. It had everything we could have hoped for – a charming, intimate feel with so many gorgeous, easy-going details, and an absolutely stunning outside veranda. It was perfect for us and set the tone so well for the rustic chic theme we had in mind. Once we booked Highlands Country Club everything fell into place in terms of our décor and little details. Since we were getting married in June, we wanted to keep the color scheme very light and whimsical with pops of beautiful soft corals and pinks. For our wedding inspiration, we looked to Martha Stewart and the beautiful real weddings on Style Me Pretty to come up with the little ideas we knew we wanted to try. Throughout the months of our wedding prep we always tried to keep it simple and fun, focusing on just a few things at a time so that it never got too overwhelming. With the help of our amazing vendors and a few exciting DIY projects, everything we imagined seemed to fall into place so effortlessly. As our wedding drew closer, one of the most rewarding parts of the planning was seeing all of our details come together in a way that was even better than we had pictured it. From the intimate, happy setting to the light-hearted, fun feel, everything really felt perfect. Our wedding was everything we hoped it would be and so much more.

Rainy Wedding day at Pheasant Field Bed and Breakfast • Addie Eshelman Photography

We adore rainy day weddings, and this one from Addie Eshelman Photography is certainly no exception. Caitlyn and Travis embraced the change of weather on their wedding day, complete with outdoor photos and umbrellas! Just goes to show that your wedding day is perfect, rain, snow or sunshine.

From Addie : Everyone always says that rain on your wedding day is good luck. This must be the luckiest couple I’ve ever photographed because let me tell you, it rained, a lot! And from the smiles on their faces, you’d never even know :)

Whimsical Rustic Wedding at Rock Island Lake Club • Deborahann Photography

Some days you come across a wedding so beautiful, you just can't choose a favorite photo. Kasey and Jamie's wedding from Deborahann Photography is one of those weddings. Her dress, the setting, the flowers, the cake.... all of it more stunning than the next. All of it a perfect blend of rustic-but-elegant, with a touch of whimsy.

From Debbie: Kasey and Jamie met at an 80’s party seven years ago.  They definitely defined the cliche, “love at first sight” since they have been inseparable ever since! They both share the love of the outdoors, wildlife and nature, so it was totally fitting that Jamie proposed to Kasey at their favorite fishing spot at a lake that Kasey had spent her childhood years enjoying. It was here that Jamie baited a fish hook with the engagement ring tied to it. He turned to Kasey and asked if she could bait the hook. It was then that she saw the ring tied to the hook and as she turned around, Jamie was down on one knee and then proceeded to ask Kasey to be his forever!

As the plans for their wedding started to unfold, they both wanted their wedding celebration to be in the true nature of simple, classic and an authentic style to really define their relationship. Kasey’s love for flowers and the outdoors totally came together as they celebrated at the Rock Island Lake Club. The day was filled with celebration, dancing and enjoying their families on a beautiful lake.

I think the most special thing about their wedding was the beautiful florals created by Tracey Reynolds Floral designs.  Tracey knows how to create magic to say the least.  It was a feeling of whimsicality with a beautiful undertone of country charm.  Kasey wanted to feel as if she was in a garden  surrounded by her favorite flowers and that is exactly how it turned out. The day was truly relaxed and was not rushed at all. Everyone just took their time and one of the nicest things that I saw was that they truly enjoyed every moment of their wedding day.

Romantic Lakeside Summer Wedding at Lake Valhalla Club • Idalia Photography

It's a very happy Friday, indeed. With with all the incredible weather we've been having, warm summer days don't seem so far away... and then there's this gorgeous wedding at the Lake Valhalla Club from Idalia Photography. Christina and Zach created the most beautiful lakeside wedding, full of personal touches and the most stunning greenery. As a paper person, I love how they carried the design all the way through the place cards, but my favorite part has to be their first look. Is there anything sweeter than a couple seeing each other for the first time on their wedding day?

From Alexandra: Christina and Zach met and started dating while in college at Monmouth University. Their wedding day was long-awaited, and they finally tied the knot at Lake Valhalla Club in Montville, NJ last August.

THE WEDDING DAY

The minute we saw Christina that morning, we couldn’t help but notice how she was beaming with joy and excitement. She was just so happy that the day had finally arrived and she was looking forward so much to getting her wedding dress on and seeing Zach for the first time that day. Zach awaited Christina on one of the docks at Lake Valhalla and it was obvious that the mere sight of his beautiful bride calmed his nerves and made him feel at ease. After a few private moments, they were ready to begin their photo session. The lake was a perfect backdrop and we couldn’t have asked for better weather either!

THE CEREMONY

When it came time for their ceremony, I loved seeing the attention to detail that Christina and Zach put into every aspect of the day. Their wedding day had a natural and organic feel to it, and it was sprinkled with hints of rustic burlap and elegant lace that brought it all together. My favorite part of the day was the ring warming ceremony when each one of Christina and Zach’s guests had a chance to say a silent blessing while holding the wedding bands before passing them on to the next guest. What a wonderful way to include your guests in a meaningful way!

How they met:

Christina: Zach and I met by chance! During my last semester at Monmouth University, my housing situation fell through and I ended up living with a few girlfriends from my sorority who were mutual friends with Zach and his fraternity brothers! After a couple of months of hanging out with our friends and spending time together, Zach brought me home for his mom’s famous Vodka Rigatoni and soon after, we became a couple!

Zach: We both met in college. One of our mutual friends brought her over to my house with everyone else and from then on it was history. We really didn’t go on many dates at the start because we were both poor college students, but I remember always going out dinner whenever we could. We have eaten so many things over the course of our relationship, I really don’t remember what the first thing was, ha! I do remember cooking pasta for her once when we first met (first and only time :) haha.

The proposal:

Christina: Zach and I had talked about getting married and about our future often, so I knew he would finally propose one day when he was ready. Over 7 years later, I couldn’t even imagine the day he would finally pop the question. We planned a trip to celebrate my birthday with friends in New Orleans. The day before, after work, I met him to drop off his car to get work done while we were away. As we pulled up to our apartment, I noticed the string lights in the kitchen we plugged in, and couldn’t understand for the life of me how or who had turned them on. I was actually nervous that someone had been in our house and Zach just looked at me and smiled, nodding me to go in the house and find out. I walked up the stairs, and opened the door to see champagne, roses, and music playing. It was truly an out-of-body experience as I realized what was actually happening, I turned around and there he was on one knee with a big nervous smile! I still have no idea what he said, but out popped my twin sister and her husband who had helped set the scene, and I cried for a good two hours that night from utter shock and happiness. I waited a long time for that moment and it was a day I’ll never forget. Zach completely shocked me and we celebrated our engagement with friends in the Big Easy; incredible trip!

Zach: We had a trip planned for a very long time to New Orleans with all of our (still mutual) friends. At the time I scheduled it, it was more for just a fun vacation than an engagement. As it got closer it made more and more sense to do it then. I was really worried about taking it on the plane, etc. so I decided to do it right before the trip. I enlisted the help of her twin sister. I know she wouldn’t have wanted a big production or anything because it was going to be very overwhelming. So I decided to just keep it to her sister and husband. We had to run an errand that morning before the trip. While we were out her sister ran in and decorated the house before we got back. When we got back, the whole house was different and they were standing there. At first she was very confused but turned around to me, on one knee. The next morning we got on a plane to go to New Orleans with all our friends and celebrate. It was perfect!

Timeless Summer Wedding at Windows on the Water • Jennifer Larsen Photography

We have a really big soft spot for timeless weddings. You know the ones... the photos where you can't really pinpoint what year they were taken in, because everything about that day was beautiful and elegant. It could have been 10 years ago, or 10 months ago, and will still be just as beautiful in another 20 years. This gorgeous summer wedding from Jennifer Larsen is just that. Timeless. Classic. Bright. And so full of love. Emily and Steve were married on a perfect summer day, and everything from her dress down to the flowers were stunning. A perfect example of how classic never goes out of style.

From Jennifer: Emily and Steve's wedding day was nothing short of magical. With goosebumps, teary eyes, and cheeks sore from smiling, I truly loved every second of photographing their day. Their wedding took place at Windows on the Water at Frogbridge in Southern New Jersey. Here are just a few of my favorite details of the day...Steve wrote his vows to Emily in the form of a letter, like the many he had written to her while on his cross country road trip at the beginning of their relationship. It was so beautifully written and heartfelt; there was certainly not a dry eye in the ceremony. Their wedding bands are engraved with the coordinates of where they met. Emily had a charm of Mother Mary that belonged to her grandmother, that her mom stitched into her dress. She also wore a bracelet that belonged to her grandmother. Her grandfather had saved up for this bracelet as a gift to his wife, held on layaway and paying it off with money from each paycheck. This bracelet was her something blue. Their love is totally infectious, radiating so much joy that you can't help but smiling when you see them together.
