A love story this good deserves a wedding this grand, and Jacquelyn and Steve's wedding from Josiah & Steph Photography is certainly one for the books. These two, along with Kyle Michelle Weddings, eloquently orchestrated a stunning beach ceremony AND a sophisticated winery reception with no detail left untouched. The Beach Club of Cape May and Willow Creek Winery provided the perfect backdrop for this elegant blush and navy elegant wedding. Breathtaking florals, rustic decor, DIY projects, and of course, the happiest bride and groom you ever did see. Happily ever after, indeed.
From Josiah + Steph: Steve and Jacquelyn met while working together at ESPN in Bristol, Connecticut. He saw her on her very first interview and asked his friend "who's that girl?" It took another 6 months to actually be introduced and then a friendship began to mold. After a year and a half of dating, Steve was gearing up for his first year out on the road directing Monday Night Football pregame, half time and post game shows. It was the perfect time to pop the question to Jacquelyn, because she chalked his nerves up to this big milestone in his career! The week before the season began, Steve planned the perfect proposal in Cape May at the couple's favorite beach where they bring their Golden Doodle, Lucy, for a swim. Of course Jacquelyn said yes, and the wedding planning in their favorite town began!
From the Bride: The inspiration behind our wedding day was a soft and elegant color palette that could translate between both venues: the beach and the winery. We wanted a uniformed look for our bridal party, while allowing them to all express their own personalities in the different bridesmaid dress styles and hair up-dos, and the mismatched boutonnieres and shoes for the groomsmen. We wanted everyone to be comfortable so they could (and most importantly) have a great time!
A very large part of the magic created for both our ceremony and the reception was done by Faye and Renee floral and event design (centerpiece arrangements, altar, water beverage display, seating chart mirror decor, etc). My father and I are very crafty too, so there were a lot of DIY touches (social media signs, custom water bottle and wine bottle labels, "shoes here" sign, and the distances to each of the important places in the bride and groom's lives sign... and of course the donut display!)
We used peonies, lots of green touches, and most importantly, anemones and berries to tie in the groomsmen's navy suit with the bridesmaids blush dresses. The soft pinks, navy, and greens worked beautifully in both venues!
My father and I created a custom donut display to hold some delicious donuts from Avalon's Duck Donuts! This was a fun touch to the dessert table inspired by some of the bride and groom's favorite South New Jersey sweets. Most everything had a personal touch! Custom water bottle labels with fun facts about the couple's relationship in place of the nutrition label, custom wine labels for the split wine bottles given as thank you favors at the end of the night, a custom Snapchat geofilter and custom Photo Booth logos for guests to bring home as a memento! Instead of a typical guest book, all guests were asked to add one of their photo booth pictures to a custom album and write a note next to it!
I wanted to bring out the elegance of historic Cape May. I went for a classic, elegant look for the ceremony with a lace dress and veil. For the reception, the veil came off, the "party belt" was put on, and flowers were added to my hair. For the groom, we went with a classic all Navy suit. This separated him from the rest of the guys who were in blush ties to match the bridesmaids.
Seeing each other for the first time was the most anticipated and special moment for us on our wedding day! We did a more traditional approach instead of the first look before the ceremony. Finally seeing one another at the beach that afternoon was definitely a special moment. Also, the BAND! We were so thrilled to have CTO perform, and they blew the roof off of the venue! The dance floor was consistently packed from start to finish. Such an amazing group of performers! We were so excited to hear them play, and they certainly helped to make the party so memorable!
My wedding planning and marriage advice for other couples would be to take a moment and remember that it is YOUR day. There is so much hustle and bustle throughout it all. All of the details that we put thought into up until the day of were well worth it, but when our day came, it was important for both of us to take a breath and enjoy it all. Also, have FUN! It was a party celebrating our love, and looking back on all of our pictures, the fun that we were having is what shined through! While the decorations, details, and fine tuning all helped to make the day so perfect, it was our ear-to-ear smiles and fun memories with the people that we love most in this world what we will always remember.
