Winter weddings are quickly becoming some of our favorites, and this styled shoot from She Rents Vintage and Dani Moran is proof as to why. Warm and inviting, the space and Emerson Park Pavilion was the perfect backdrop for this Art Deco wedding inspiration, and we’re loving everything about this day. From the vintage-inspired stationery and jewelry to the antique decor pieces and incredibly intricate gown, every detail is more beautiful than the last. If the thought of a winter wedding has ever crossed your mind, let this styled shoot be the example as to why they’re at the top of our list!
I saw the marble bar at the Emerson Park Pavilion from afar through locked doors but immediately texted my friend, photographer Dani Moran, "We have to do a NYE Art Deco vibes styled shoot here, you in?" Of course she said yes! The Emerson Park Pavilion sits on the south end of one of the Fingerlakes (Owasco), it has beautiful views and grounds. It is simple in it's elegance, white walls, lots of natural light, huge ceiling heights and hardwood floors.
This was the first large scale styled shoot I executed as designer and vendor so I was anxious to get all the details right. I decided on a cream/white, gold and emerald green color palette, I added new modern white and gold rim plates that I wanted to feature along with velvet emerald green chairs. Plus I knew I wanted to use Sia, the settee with the fringe, and Goldie Hawn because they are so glamorous themselves. I wanted to offer a classic look with vintage elements.
I invited my close friends to be our models for the day. Gillian and Ayham are wonderful people who were married in 2013 in a courthouse. They always said they would have a wedding for their family and friends to be part of but as time went by and their family grew from 3 to 5, it just didn't come together. I really wanted to give them the chance to get a wedding album and have a wedding experience. Ayham's family lives abroad and for reasons out of their control has not been able to travel to meet Gillian and the kids. I hope that these photos will bring them joy and illustrate just how happy and in love their son is with Gillian. It was so refreshing to have models who are comfortable and in love, and it made Dani's job easier!
When I found a set of syroco wall hangings at a thrift shop I had a vision of them on a matte black backdrop. So I built 2 Giant Chalkboards, 7' by 4' which can be set together as one big wall or separated. I decided against lettering on the boards in favor of a simple look with the gold birds. I used my collection of potted plants throughout the room, I offer plant rentals and wanted to showcase them. I also had planned on upcycling a vintage room screen using palm leaf wallpaper and felt this was the time to use it! I love the way it turned out.
Emma Bauso Designs created beautiful curled name tags for the seating display where "guests" found their table assignments on glittery noise makers. The hairpin leg tables were made locally with reclaimed wood and I just love the way the grain of the wood shows through the photos. Stacey made a great art deco cake, she had been wanting to do an Emerald green cake and this was her chance!
We are all so proud and excited with how everything came together. We hope you enjoy the photos as much as we do!
