Nautical Summer Wedding at Spring Lake, New Jersey • Idalia Photography

Some sunshine and bright colors to help remind us that spring is only a few weeks away! Caitlin + Thomas were married at The Riverhouse at Rumson Country Club on a beautiful August day, and Idalia Photography was there to capture it all. From a stunning lace gown to stunning summer florals, this New Jersey wedding was equal parts preppy and romantic. We loved the nautical touches throughout: sand dollar escort cards, a monogramed buoy and anchors tied into every part of their day.

From the Bride: Our wedding took place at St. Catharine's Church in Spring Lake, NJ with the reception at The Riverhouse at Rumson Country Club in Rumson, NJ on August 29th. The bride wore a Maggie Sottero wedding gown that was lace fit and flare with a sweetheart neckline. The groom wore a Vera Wang tux. (The bridesmaids wore Alfred Sung coral cocktail dresses. The groomsmen wore Vera Wang tuxes). The flowers were provided by Wallflowers in Spring Lake Heights, NJ. The bouquets had mixes of summer flowers in white, coral, and a pop of light blue and were tied together with a nautical navy and white striped ribbon). The reception centerpieces were a wreath of white, coral, and light blue flowers that surrounded a white lantern with a navy blue candle. The bridal party took a trolley from the wedding to reception to ensure the evening was started off on a fun note.

Describe where you got your inspiration: The bride and groom both grew up loving the beach and the water. We agreed we wanted to incorporate a beachy/nautical theme to our wedding to reflect our taste as well as our love for the summer. When we started thinking of our wedding plans - flowers, color theme, decorations, etc. we wanted to make sure it captured our love of being outdoors by the water in the summer. Since our wedding was at the beach and our reception was on the river, it was simple for us to pick out all the components of our wedding. Everything really fell into place and reflected the vibe we wanted.

Your favorite part: I have to say, while I enjoyed absolutely everything about our wedding day, I must say I have two memories that really come to mind. The first favorite part of my wedding was seeing my then fiance on the altar for the first time that day. Prior to our ceremony, I was calm, cool, and collected all morning. My makeup and hair were done and looked great. My family and bridesmaids were toasting to my future. Everything was going so perfectly. Then, I got on trolley and headed to the church where my nerves kicked in. As soon as I got off the trolley and started walking up to the church, I had tears in my eyes that I could not control. There is no doubt in my mind that these were happy tears. I knew my best friend, the love of my life, was waiting for me on the alter. Still to this day, I don't know what caused me to get so emotional. Once the church doors opened and I saw my handsome groom waiting for me at the end of the aisle, I felt the biggest sigh of relief. The look on his face said it all and he gave me butterflies in my stomach like he did the day he first asked me out. While I felt bad for the rest of our guests who were staring at me walking down the aisle, my eyes were completely fixated on my soon-to-be husband. The second favorite part of my wedding was during my wedding reception. My husband and I took a step back to look at all of our family and friends who had traveled to see us become husband and wife. I can honestly say, I have never seen so many people having the time of their lives out on the dance floor. The band, LiveWire Entertainment, did a phenomenal job at keeping all of the wedding guests on their feet We could not have been happier to know everyone was having an amazing time celebrating our love. This was exactly what we wanted - everyone to relax and have fun.

One word to describe your wedding: If I could describe our wedding in one word - I would say it was monumental. It was monumental because my husband and I were able to enjoy our entire day with our family and friends who we love dearly. From the feedback we got from our wedding guests, it was a night they enjoyed immensely. Both our ceremony and reception went off without a hitch and we could not have asked for a better day. The weather was perfect and we had a full moon in the evening - it really was something out of a fairy tale.Of course, none of this would have been possible without Jacquelyn from EVJ Wedding Co as our day-of-coordinator and Alex and Jay Peterson of Idalia Photography who captured the best images possible.

Advice for other brides: Enjoy and relax! Take the time to enjoy your engagement with your fiance. It's so easy to get wrapped up in the wedding planning and worry about small details.Enjoy the time you have together while your relationship is still growing. Of course, make sure you follow the wedding checklist and space out your planning - don't get too overwhelmed and don't leave things for the last minute. My two best pieces of advice are 1.) don't let planning and details bog you down. No one will know if something is out of place, or if something was changed day of for the wedding. Put everything into perspective! (It is not a big deal at all if your place settings were not exactly what you had in mind). Enjoy the planning, be thorough to make sure you have everything ready for your big day - but be flexible that things may change. Although it is one of the biggest days of your life, keep in mind this is more about the marriage and your relationship than it is a celebration (the wedding day is over in a few hours, but a marriage is aimed to last a lifetime). 2.) Enjoy every minute of your wedding day! It will go by in the blink of an eye. Enjoy the time with your guests and your new husband. It will set the tone for your future
